Easy to turn / stable / fun!

A little harder to set edges in ice / less stable at high downhill speeds

I am a middle aged intermediate / occasional skier, who skis mostly on the East Coast. I have been skiing my trusty old school 200 Rossi 4s straight skis for years, but they were becoming too much work, and my knees would kill me after the first day on the slopes - then I'd begin to catch an edge now and then and wipe out.
So I bought these 170 Head Xenon Xi 3.0s from Level Nine. I've skied on them five times now, and love them. They are easy to turn, and stable for most intermediate speeds. I can ski for days without the knee pain.
I did ski in icy conditions once, and they were harder to set my edges than the old straight skis. They also are a little less stable at higher downhill speed runs.
That said, they are an excellent value for a low to mid intermediate skier.
As for the Level Nine purchase experience - the site is easy to use if you come in with an idea of what you're looking for. The ski selector helped narrow down the field. Then the descriptions, reviews and specs really helped me find a few choices that fit my requirements. One last call to help me decide between two options, and voila: skis with bindings mounted at an excellent value on my doorstep within a week.
